How to Take Ownership of Your Business and Achieve Success

When it comes to taking ownership of your Real Estate business, entrepreneurship is key. Being an entrepreneur means being proactive and taking ownership to grow your business. It also means being innovative and always looking for new opportunities to improve your services. In the ever-changing world of Real Estate, it is essential to take responsibility for your own success, and you will have a higher chance to achieve your career goals. It can be a lot of work, but the skills you attain, the experiences you go through, and the rewards you achieve are well worth it.

Here are 3 ways on how I run my business:

1. Going Against the Norm

I do realize my ideas are quite different from the 'norm' and against convention. I experience there may be some people who find it hard to model after me, because I love to explore and try things in every area of my business. I'm excited to try new things on myself first, and not at the expense of others. With my mindset of constantly seeking new knowledge and experiences, it can be seen as disruptive to traditional ideas. However, my belief is that the desire to learn, grow, and think outside the box, helps one to stand out from the rest. And while this may sometimes alienate one from the mainstream, but it's essential if you want to create something new and exciting.

That's why entrepreneurship is so important in the Real Estate business. People who take ownership of their business constantly push boundaries and break conventions. We do not follow the traditional path, we blaze our own. And as a result, we're able to achieve incredible things. Even if not everyone understands or agrees with us in the short term.

Despite being different from the norm and operating this way for so many years, I've managed to create a unique path for myself that others who are willing, can learn from.

2. Professional and Ethical Selling
Anyone who's ever bought or sold a home knows it's not just a four-walled structure - it's a place where memories are made. It's a big life moment, and one that comes with a lot of emotion and questions.

That's why I believe it's so important for anyone to work with a Real Estate professional who they can trust to be professional and ethical.

Selling is not just about finding a buyer and completing a transaction - it's about building relationships and providing clients with the best possible advice and service. This means taking into account their unique circumstances and needs, and acting in their best interests at all times. They won't try to upsell them on a property that's out of their budget or push them into making an offer before they're ready. It can be tempting for many agents, especially when they are trying to generate revenue, to focus solely on the sale itself rather than on the client's long-term wellbeing. However, this is not only unethical, it's also bad business.

Not only do I take ownership of myself and my business, but I also take ownership of my clients, their needs, and their future. This is how I've been running my business for the past 18 years, and this is how I bring across my values to everyone in my team.

Simply put, professional and ethical Real Estate agents sell homes, not houses. And that makes all the difference in the world in my way of doing business.

3. Putting in the Work

From my experience, I see many people join the industry without knowing the real truths of what it really takes to achieve a long term career in Real Estate. It is often portrayed by the promises of easy money and living a life of luxury. However, as anyone who has been in the business for a while knows, these promises are not always the case.

It's true that with the advancement of the industry and the leaders in the field, there are lots of learning materials available everywhere. However, if one does not have the motivation or mindset to take action and implement their ideas, nothing will happen - regardless of how much materials, 'systems' or resources are provided. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to be successful in Real Estate, and those who join the industry without that understanding are often quickly disappointed.

I've seen many aspiring Real Estate agents come in and out of the business. It's common that the people who "make it", are the ones who assume full responsibility and take ownership of their career, their business, and their success.

If you're considering to join the Real Estate industry, it's important to do your research and understand what it really entails before jumping into a career.

After finally receiving their Real Estate license, many are eager to get started in their new career immediately. It's important to explore all of your options before making a decision. With so many different agencies out there, it's impossible to know which one is right for you without doing your research.

By taking the time to do your research on the industry and different teams, you're more likely to find an agency that aligned with your values and goals. And when you're happy with your agency, you're more likely to be successful in your career. So even though it may be tempting to go with the first offer you get, remember that you have the right to explore all of your options before making a decision.
